Your Inuit-led Arctic eco-tour awaits
“Off the beaten path” is a description that’s highlighted on the bucket list of many adventurists. Those seeking a place not visited by the masses. Where nature rules in a wild and wonderful, even spiritual realm. There is such a destination to be found, far up in the northern reaches of Quebec in Nunavik, land of the Inuit. Here you’ll discover a landscape of Arctic tundra, spectacular coastal views, extraordinary wildlife and seasonal Northern Lights sightings that will take your breath away.
The ultimate itinerary
For a truly incomparable, worry-free Nunavik adventure, book a one-week, all-inclusive package with Ungava Polar Eco-Tours and have the time of your life. A local Inuit-owned-and-led ecotourism company, their experienced guides love sharing knowledge and Inuit culture with visitors during August and September tours to the Gyrfalcon Islands of Ungava Bay – a beautiful, remote area with unique features found nowhere else on the planet. The islands are located offshore from the Inuit community of Tasiujaq at the mouth of Leaf Basin, home to some of the largest tides and tidal currents in the world.

Day 1. Your adventure begins with a direct 2 hr 20 min flight on Air Inuit from Montreal to Kuujjuaq – Gateway to Nunavik. There you’ll be greeted by friendly staff who will escort you to a Twin Otter bush plane, for a short trip to Tiercel Island – base camp for the week’s exciting activities.
Day 2 and Day 5. Take an amazing boat tour around the Gyrfalcon Islands. The perfect occasion to view and photograph wildlife, such as polar bears, muskoxen, caribou, seals, birds, maybe even whales.
Day 3. Explore Tiercel Island on a hike with an experienced Inuit guide. On the way, you’ll be immersed in the Inuit culture and experience the sounds of the land in its natural state.
Day 4. Explore further and go faster. Accompanied again by an experienced Inuit guide, this time you’ll be on a fat bike for a completely different experience. Thanks to the bikes, guests will have the chance to cover the whole island and be treated to truly breathtaking areas of wilderness that rarely experience any human contact.
Day 6. The last day of adventure will be marked by an ATV tour of the island and a boat ride to get a final look at what this special land has to offer. A last delicious gastronomic meal will be served, followed by drinks under the Northern Lights, next to a warm fire.
Day 7. Hop on the Twin Otter for a return trip to Kuujjuaq, to connect with the regional flight back to Montreal. Bringing with you incredible memories to last a lifetime.
Note: Depending on weather conditions, such as high winds, the activity schedule may change but it is always a thrill.
