Your Next Favourite Getaway Is Closer Than You Think
As you slowly pull into the long driveway, the atmosphere feels welcoming and a sense of calm washes over you. The trees overhang just enough to offer light, refreshing shade. Birdsong fills the air, along with the scent of fresh-cut grass and the natural surroundings.
Pause. This is your moment to simply stop – and take a much-needed breath.
While parents are unpacking, the kids have already made themselves at home among the trees! The freedom to run through grassy fields, make new friends at the naturally inspired playground, and cool off at the splash pad – that’s what they really came for. Parents hear laughter and fun – that sense of peace families crave during vacation – and here, you’ve found it.
An effortless escape, Chiefswood Park offers something for every age and ability with accessible cabins, glamping units, and tent campsites available. Whether you’d rather relax inside or get active on the Grand River, it’s waiting for you here! Kayaks and canoes are available for rent or bring your own! The park has everything you need to reset and recharge. When the kids are ready to wind down, the cabin loft and complimentary Wi-Fi will keep them happily connected.

You don’t just visit Chiefswood Park, you experience it
The cabins sleep up to eight, making them ideal for families or a weekend away with friends – Fido included! The park offers several pet-friendly cabins so the whole family can join. Fully equipped kitchens, private bathrooms and climate control mean you have everything you need – and it’s genuinely a relaxing place to come together. Step off the porch and you’re surrounded by mature trees, open sky and the quiet rhythm of the Grand River just beyond.
That river deserves a morning of your time. Push off from the bank in a kayak as the mist is still sitting on the water, the trees lining the shore reflected beneath your paddle. There’s no itinerary, no agenda. Just you, the current and whatever wildlife decides to show up. Herons are common, and the particular silence that only moving water can offer has a way of calming your nervous system and bringing your mind to the present. Don’t forget to keep your eye on the skies – an eagle can sometimes be spotted soaring above the water during the warmer months.
The full moon is another time the river beckons paddlers. Setting out just before dusk, you can say goodnight as the sun sets upstream, then turn around to welcome the full moon rising. As her light shimmers across the water, the float back to the park is something else entirely. Some experiences are just better lived than described.
Back on land, the trails invite an unhurried walk or an energetic hike, depending on what your day calls for. In every season, the park offers a different personality – the lush greens of summer giving way to the blazing colours of fall, and eventually to the fresh stillness of a snow-covered morning.
Couples find magic in the trees. A place to reconnect, find balance and recharge together. A quiet coffee on the porch is the perfect way to ease into your morning. Then head out and explore – Indigenous experiences with Six Nations Tourism, a scenic dinner with Grand River Dinner Cruises or a lively evening at the Six Nations Bingo Hall.

Families will find adventure nearby, with Cameron’s Speedway & Amusements, an exciting evening at Ohsweken Speedway or ice cream at Hewitt’s Dairy!
Groups are equally at home here. Chiefswood Park hosts family reunions, weddings, baby showers, company picnics, BBQs and site-wide private events. Looking for a larger scale, indoor event venue? Our sister site, the Gathering Place by the Grand, offers a beautiful space perfect for holiday parties, AGMs and more – with nearby accommodations for your guests.
A four-season getaway
Make the most of your temperature-controlled cabin – available year-round. Cozy up under a blanket with a good book or step outside to your campfire just steps from your front door. Add hot cocoa (and perhaps a splash of peppermint schnapps) and you have everything you need for a perfect evening with the people who matter most. Cook a group meal in your cabin, gather around the fire, or head to the Six Nations Bingo Café – with a full range of restaurants just 20 minutes away, you’re never far from a good meal.
Winter guests enjoy snowshoeing, snow tubing, cross-country skiing and ice skating. Plus, there’s something about a winter campfire that just hits differently than those long summer nights.
Sometimes the best getaway isn’t far from home. Just one hour from downtown Toronto, Chiefswood Park is easily accessible from Highway 403, located between Brantford and Hamilton.
